Hyperventilation
The product from respiratory rate and breath volume is the breath minute volume, an important size for the oxygen uptake. Trained men achieve values of 120 - 140 l / min., high trained runners can reach up to 200 l / min. The breath work is influenced substantially by the breath depth and the respiratory rate. High frequency and low respiration (hyperventilation) uses more oxygen for the breath work and is uneconomic, because this oxygen is not available for the run musculature. A deeper and slower respiration is more effective.
